The New Egypt
Neighborhood Preservation Program is
committed to the improvement of the
target
area in and around downtown
New Egypt. Eligible persons
may apply for grant assistance by
submitting
a Target Area Resident
Profile.
The mission of the
NPP is to provide technical
assistance and state funded support
for downtown New Egypt. The
NPP also supports community events
and all types of civic, non-profit
and youth
organizations, aimed at
improving the overall quality of the
community.
The goal of the
program is to act as a catalyst for
private investment.

Commercial Properties

Housing Rehab
- offered for repairs and
renovations (roof, siding/gutters,
windows/doors, porch, chimney, etc.)
- NPP offers a direct grant up to
$15,000 for low to moderate income
- prior approval required
- proof of ownership and completed
application required
- grantee responsible for all permits from Plumsted Twp

- offered to business owners in target area who need a new sign or exterior lighting
- NPP will pay up to $350

Facades
- offered for repairs and
renovations to exterior of
commercial property (roof, windows,
steps/rails, siding/gutters,
awnings, signage, landscaping,
demoliton (if end use is new
construction), etc.)
- NPP offers a 50% match grant, up
to $5,000 (total expenditure of at
least $10,000, of which $5,000 is
refunded)

Youth
Scholarship
- twelve yearly scholarships
awarded in exchange for 20 hours of
community service (such as events,
clean-up, gardening, etc.)
- NPP will award youth's choice of
sports sponsorships, free karate
classes, music lessons, tutoring,
skate camp sponsorships, riding
lessons, or $100 check for college
savings account)
- letter addressed to NPP that
includes "reasons why our youth
should take pride in our community"

Station
- community policing program
- established to provide additional police presence in the downtown
- focus on truck by-pass violations, litter, loitering, pedestrian crosswalk safety, etc.
